short shameful confession #9

My kids like to eavesdrop on the "adult" conversations I have with my friends (not that they are triple-x or anything like that...you know what I mean)...

So I've learned that the best way to clear the room of tweens is to simply say:
"Nipple, nipple, nipple, penis, vagina."

No way do they want to hang around when Mom starts talking vagina.

Ha - I love it. I wouldn't call that a shameful confession, that's simply teen parenting. Totally sounds like something I would do.

My sister once asked her teenage son repeatedly to take out the garbage. After about the 5th request, she leaned down to him on the couch and said "T, I'm only asking you to take out the garbage, not cut off a testicle." T, jumped up said "Mum!!!!" in that tone of voice and with a disgusted look on his face - but he took out the garbage. Now if my sister asks him to do something and he doesn't move quick enough she simply says "snip, snip." Apparently highly effective!

That's hilarious.

I don't think I've ever heard either of my parents mention any of those words - oh wait, my dad did said the word "scrotum" once when talking about our rabbit.

I doubt my kids will be hearing the word "vagina" a lot from their parents. Lots of "penis" though I'm sure.

Ha ha--unfortunately my kids are only 5 and 2 and still in the stage where they have no idea what the social rules are. The other day in sharing time my daughter raised her hand to tell everyone that you need a sperm and an egg to make a baby. And I know someday she will absolutely die if I tell her she told her little brother: "Your penis is cute!"

I'm with foxy in that I'll have to wait awhile yet before such conversations become effective room-empty-ers. but thanks for the tip.

LOL, that's really funny.

Now I'm wondering if I would have left in a hurry if my mom had used that same technique when I was 12 or 13....or if I would have been intrigued and stayed just close enough to hear the rest of the story.... :-)

Oh that's odd. I thought that was just a verbal tic you had. With this explanations, it makes so much more sense.
