because it's all about me

For those of you dropping by from dooce.com, welcome! :)

Like Heather, I was raised Mormon, grew up in the South, and am married to Jo(h)n. Unlike Heather, I'm a hippie Quaker living in the OC with my two teenage kids (CatGirl and GameBoy).

Twenty-five years ago I lost my right leg to bone cancer. Five months ago I got an antibiotic-resistant infection in my lower left leg, and I've been fighting to keep that one ever since.

I like gardening, cabaret punk, and my favorite black sweater. I tend to find the oddest things in my cleavage.

I used to think Quakers were terribly uptight until I made a friend who's Quaker. I guess it's the oatmeal box dude who gives the religion its reputation. He should really open up his shirt and let us see his chest hair. If he sowed a few wild oats (sorry) more people would realize the Quakers are a cool bunch.

Oh, and I'm another who came here thanks to Dooce!

Hi Jana. I am really enjoying your writing. I also found you via dooce. I experienced an infection in 2003 after my C-section with twins that required twice daily packings. I really feel for the pain that you are going through. Thank you so much for sharing. Stay strong! Sending positive thoughts your way.

I am stopping by from Dooce and I appreciate the primer on you! I adore what I've been reading and I look forward to more. I, like Dooce, am a recovered Mormon and I, like Dooce, still have many family members active. I will still ferociously defend the Church when faced with ignorance although my faith left it long ago. Thank you for your insights and sharing your experiences. What a gift!

I'm another arrival via Dooce, another Quaker, another person with a disability - thanks for the great writing; I'm sorry I didn't start reading sooner, and I'm wishing you luck!

I, too, found you via Dooce and look forward to following you now. I'm not a Quaker but am always interested in learning more about people, what they believe, what makes them tick.

See you again soon!
