gettin' fancy with the spices...

Why, oh why, did Disney/Pixar have to go and make a new movie about French cooking and Paris and a protagonist named Remy (one of my very favorite names in this whole world, btw) and make said main character a RAT??? What were they THINKING???

Note to Pixar/Disney:
Paris + Gourmet Food + Cat, Dog, and/or Platypus = good film
Paris + Gourmet Food + Rat = Wrong, Wrong, Wrongity, Wrong

Yep, Remy pronounced just the very same way. It's a pretty common name in France--both as a surname and as a given name. :)

One of the bad guys in the DaVinci Code is named Remy. I've come across a few others in literature. A few years ago I was buying groceries and the checker told me that her dog's name was Remy. I don't know if that was meant to be flattering to me or not.

and saying a movie with a rat in it is consequently wrong is just dumb thinking..

My reply:
Me, I wrote that rats are something bad, not to mention the wrongity wrong thing. Yah, and my opinion on that is not likely to change anytime soon (or anytime not soon either). My blog my opinions, my hatred of all things rodent-like. :)

FWIW, I probably haven't watched the Oscars in more than 2 decades and I certainly could care less who wins for animation. :)

Jana, Have you and your children read a wonderful book, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH? After reading it, I couldn't really find it in my heart to dislike rats although I don't really want to share my living space with them.

When I got my BA in psychology they offered up the lab rats that would be "sacrificed" for students to take home as pets. I took one home for my kids who were asking for a hamster or gerbil. They promptly named her Isabella (after the one female rat named in the book). She was a good pet, used to plenty of handling from her lab life, and basically lived in an aquarium like a gerbil or other rodent pet when she wasn't being held and loved, running the mazes the kids made with blocks, or chewing the noses off their stuffed animals! Good memories!
