Seen on a headstone at the Siloam Methodist Church Cemetery, somewhere on the rural roads of North Carolina: Written under the husband's name, "Her Hero" Under the wife's name, "His Habit."

I like the idea of clever headstones, I just don't like the idea of bodies rotting in coffins. I told my spousal unit I want to be cremated and have the ashes dumped under a big pine tree in a national forest (where it's less likely to get cut down anytime soon) and have my earthly molecules turn into tree sap and pine needles.
Of course, when I'm dead, she gets to do whatever she pleases, as I won't be around to argue about the fate of my corpse! But ashes under a tree (or in the ocean) at least sounds more appealing than a concrete vault and expensive coffin filled with rotting bones...
Rich: coming soon, more NC cemeteries w/photos and stories....
I like the idea of being buried sans preservatives, with a big bunch of my composting worms in the pine box w/me. Weird, eh? For some reason that's more appealing than ashes. Though the ashes idea is starting to grow on me (it's much more environmentally responsible, too).
One of my biggest regrets is that I didnt ask for the ashes of my leg. I wish I could have an urn on the mantle with my leg in it. It's the not-knowing of where that part of me is that haunts me sometimes.

Not weird at all! That would in fact be my 2nd choice. And it seems to be growing in popularity.
