If you follow me on twitter and Facebook, you already know that the fatal shooting at UCI occurred just outside our apartment. We are all okay, except for that residual emotional trauma that comes from having been so close to such an event. John's post captures this so well.

I was raised Mormon, but now I'm a hippie Quaker living in the OC with my two teenage kids: CatGirl & GameBoy.
Twenty-six years ago I lost my right leg to bone cancer. Awhile ago I had an antibiotic-resistant infection in my lower left leg, and now I'm healing from surgery and feeling better every day.
I like gardening, making history, outrigger canoeing, trying new things, and my afternoon cup of tea.

I am glad that you are alright.
How's CatGirl doing with it today? Hope she is handling it alright. (And the rest of you, too).
