a good deal

I have travelled a good deal in Concord.

I'm realizing today how much I love travel, how enticing it is now that airfares are low. To just go. To walk away from the familiar again. For awhile. (Boston & environs, you are calling my name)

That day was magical. I was so glad to have shared it with you and John and Sarah. It felt like such a pilgrimage ... seeing the Alcott home where they lived and learned and loved and worked. I'm sad to learn of Sarah's death. She was so optimistic, warm and inviting.

Other places I would like to visit are the Anne Frank annex in Amsterdam, PEI for LM Montgomery's Green Gables, the Jane Austen museum in Chawton, Elizabeth Gaskell's home in Manchester, and the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum in Missouri. It is not an insubstantial thing to feel connected with women who were able to so clearly articulate themselves with the written word.
