See me, sitting in the back in black? This is what I do. Sitting in an archive, searching through a scrapbook of newspaper articles about the Santa Monica Veterans' Home.
The time passes so quickly when I'm in the archive, lunchtime slipped by and before I knew it, it was time to head home.
My archival 'partner in crime,' K, snapped this little pic--knowing how much fun it is to show others what we do in the 'inner-sanctums' of the research facilities. Today, for example, before entering this facility I had to go through a search that's every bit as thorough as if I were boarding a jetliner.

Looks like heaven to me. I miss those days! Every once in a while I can sneak in a reading day at the Huntington, but... sigh. Big shiny tables...

I'm at the H pretty frequently these days. Let me know if you're stopping by--it'd be great fun to meet you in person! :)
I remember the search procedure the first (and only) time I went into an archive. I wasn't sure if I should even breathe around the stuff.
Pretty exhilarating, though.
I'll be there Saturday (1 March), and again on 10 May, because I'm on the steering committee for the Women's Studies seminars. I'm usually sitting at the table in the lobby of Friends Hall. In the afternoon I'm usually reading current periodicals in the big old readers' room.
