I didn't take this pic myself, but it's pretty close to what it has looked like outside today. Creepy orange sky, raining ash.
At least the wind seems to have died down.
We are following the 'rules'--hunkering down inside with windows and doors closed. I went out briefly to put gas in the car 'just in case' and found that the power was out in most of the nearby shopping centers--had to go pretty far to find a place with working gas pumps.
Kinda scary.
What about you--are you all okay? Anyone else out there near a fire?

I just logged on tonight specifically to check on you and my ExII sisters. The news just said a quarter million people have been evacuated. May the winds calm . . .
We're not in the line of fire now, but we all need to hope that the high temps and winds predicted for tomorrow won't happen!
I hate to say this since it's caused by a fire, but that picture really is beautiful.
I'm a lot more nervous than Ryan before. He's been through this before so he's pretty chill right now.....I've never been this near to a big fire and never felt this threatened, but I really do think we'll be fine.
I've been watching the web because I have a number of friend in your area. I wish you and my other friends the best and hope that the winds to not blow your way.

Hi, Jana -
Hope you and your family are okay. Take good care of your cute kitties :)
Thanks everyone, for your good wishes! The good news is that the wind is still fairly calm today. The air quality around our neighborhood is much better, too.
But keep prayin' for those in South County and in San Diego--they are in the greatest danger right now...
My brother is in San Diego. He was evacuated yesterday and was told that he would lose his home today. So far the fire is still a half mile away...fingers crossed....trying evacuating at 5 am with 5 kids, but his family and their dog are safe and that is all that counts.
so very scary!! sending you love, xox
