--Take a minute to watch this brief video about global women's issues. Narrated by author Alice Walker. Kudos go to Mom for the link.
--Then head over to Lorell's blog to read why what you eat affects global warming even more than what you drive. (hmmm...reading this reminds me of the absolutely scrumptious veggie buffalo wings that john brought home from The Veggie Cafe yesterday).

Wow - I didn't watch the clip yet, but the article about the benefits to the environment about going vegetarian is fascinating. I've always thought of vegetarians of living that lifestyle solely for their own health benefits or out of regards for the animals, but I had never even considered environmental effects of mass-producing meat.
Jana, would you be willing to share a little more about your own vegetarian lifestyle? Are you 100% strict on not eating any animal products, or do you eat a little bit of meat here and there?
I've never been an animals' rights activist and I think meat can be a healthy part of a diet, so I've never even considered vegetarianism. I still love chicken and an occasional beef stew, but the article you linked to is the first thing that's actually inspired me to eat meat a few times a week instead of every day (2-3 times a day, sometimes).
This makes salmon seem a much more attractive choice than chicken.
What's the bet? Vegetarianism? I raise you to pastoral farming.[/poker analogy]
Here's another Polyface Farm link. Might local, grass-fed meat be better than organic asparagus flown in from South America?
