shopping sabbatical

I've read about The Compact in a few different venues. I like that this non-consumer movement is really catching on because I enjoy imagining a world of sharing resources (a la Freecycle) rather than our typical consumer culture. Now that's a world I'd like to live in. :)

That's a cool idea. I try to give something up for Lent each year, but it's usually sweets or sleeping in late or something of that sort. I'll have to think about giving up consumerism in general - it would be pretty hard, but I'm sure it would be worth it!

I hate to say it, but I pretty much know I could not do this for an entire year.
