on teeth and men...

What is it with men and their fancy-pantsy toothbrushes?

John likes to select his toothbrushes by the number of accessories they possess. Soft-grip handle? Tooth-whitening bristles? Gum massager? Dayglo handle with weird stripes down the side? The more the better for him. Same with toothpaste--he's got to try the latest-greatest flavor w/mouthwash enhancers, polishing power-clumps, and denture-prevention creme.

Me, I pretty much don't mind what sort of brush I use as long as the bristles are intact (none of those freebie-brushes-with-poorly-anchored-bristles for me). I also don't like paste with colors. Tom's of Maine is a personal favorite.

Yes Tom's of Maine peppermint varieties are the type for me. I've even been to Tom's in Sanford, ME, just up I95 from our house.

I have vaguely unsettling news though. They have merged with Colgate Palmoloive. Here's what Tom and Kate say: www.tomsofmaine.com/about/Colgate.asp

Thanks for hte heads up about the merger. I hadn't heard. It sounds like C-P will maintain many of Tom's business practices. But it is still scary. And I will miss the homebiz feel that I've always had with Tom's products.

But I can't be too down on C-P because they also manufacture the very high-quality catfood that our little ones enjoy so much (they will only eat Science Diet--our funny cats don't even like fish much at all. so weird).
