Included in this bunch are pics of C on his first backpacking trip with the Boy Scouts and his Dad, E's class fieldtrip to the San Juan Capistrano mission (John was a parent chaperone on the trip so these lovely pictures are his handiwork), and C's 6th grade promotion ceremony earlier this morning.

Enjoy :)

I agree with you! One of my biggest disappointments when I visited an old Catholic cathedral in Shanghai last fall was that they didn't allow burning candles--they had little flashlight-type candles. It's so not the same thing! (a note of irony--the cathedrals in China are forbidden from burning candles because they cause too much 'air pollution' but at the Buddhist temples, worshippers are allowed to light whole bundles of incense--dozens of sticks thick--to burn in the censers outside. Though I love both incense and candles, I was annoyed at the seemingly anti-catholic prejudice.
