So if you're worried that people will be horrified when they see you farting or whatever, just think that you'll have a copy of their movie too, and you can cue it up to the right moment if they give you any trouble...

I think that's why the thought of people seeing "my movie" didn't bother me all that much.

I think this "seeing your life as a movie" idea is fairly common in Mormonism. Weirdly, I actually kind of liked the idea. I talked about it on my blog here.C. L. It's very effective, but I think that all too often the costs to many individuals are overlooked in the interest of preserving the larger institution.

Anyhow, I'm going to play the part of the protective partner here (she's done as much for me in the past, and she can counter this comment if it's out of place): I hope that no one succumbs to the temptation to downplay Jana's personal experience--to suggest perhaps that her views were doctrinally incorrect, or that her deep internalizing of such metaphors is uncommon. I've watched her struggle with this through the years, and I can attest that this is a vulnerability of hers, a tender wound.JohnRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01822899155130408891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14231518.post-69173424193094345132007-06-04T08:50:00.000-07:002007-06-04T08:50:00.000-07:00I'll be back to posting flower photos soon enough-...I'll be back to posting flower photos soon enough--posts like this one take a lot out of me and are becoming fewer and further between these days. :)janahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06538362162139679868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14231518.post-31693097304685430272007-06-04T00:37:00.000-07:002007-06-04T00:37:00.000-07:00Wow.
